Spread the love

New York-based photographer Omar Robles continues his quest to travel the world and document dancers in different countries . After hearing Donald Trump saying “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best” in one of his speeches, Omar decided to visit this country next. “I set myself to prove those words wrong and show how beautiful Mexico and its people really are,” he said.

Robles teamed up with FujiFilm, contacted a good number of local dancers and went to Mexico City to shoot. “The rhetoric that permeates our times is sadly about division and segregation,” the photographer said. “The warmth with which the people of Mexico received me and the dancers as we shot along the streets truly inspired me.”

Robles also had the opportunity to witness Mexico city during its Day of the Dead celebrations. “Bold and vibrant colors everywhere, mirroring the characters of the people who call this city home,” he recalled. “The same who curiously stood by while I photographed the dancers and on many occasions even offered ovations after witnessing our shoots.”
